Frankie's current and last litter consists of 6 puppies, just like her first one. This time, there are 5 girls and 1 boy. Five of the puppies are all black, one girl looks like she will be sort of dark brown in color. Born on May 28, in Frankie's kennel in our family room, as of this writing, June 11, they are just opening their eyes, standing up, and starting to become active. The picture is a typical adolescent girl from the first litter. She is around 5 months old and about 50 pounds, probably on the way to 80 pounds fully grown. Click here for testimonials.
Today, July 10, 2008, the puppies are 43 days old. Here is a picture of the "Puppy Condo".

These pictures looking down on the puppies while they are eating are a good way to get a sense of what kind of hair they might turn out to have. Although it is simply impossible to predict, puppies that look a little more "poodle-ly" will probably not shed, puppies that look a little more shepherd in hair texture might shed a little. Owners of the first litter say the ones that do shed do not shed very much.
Silver collar is a very smart and very curious puppy. She is often either the first or among the first to learn things. For example, she escaped from the pen area on our deck and went exploring underneath the deck. That little thing above her eye is a scab and she acquired it in her escapades under the deck. (She is not harmed at all). Anyway, using that scab on above her eye, you can sometimes identify her in group pictures where the collar colors are not showing.
Here's Orange! OOPS, sorry, I accidently mixed in some Silvers. I tried to delete lots of them, but, generally Orange was with the milk bone and Silver was with the tennis ball, and remember, Silver has the little scab above one of her eyes.
Day 45: Silver Collar picks up a tennis ball in her mouth and prances around with it. Several other puppies chase after her. At least on some occasions, Silver also plays with other puppies, often jumping on top of them.
Frankie, the mother, is an AKC German Shepherd, around 4 years old. She loves to swim and jump off docks. She is a natural fetcher and if available, will always have a tennis ball in her mouth. She loves to go on long runs, up to an hour or more as we train for marathons. Her father was brought over from Germany for breeding. As a "german" German Shepherd, she is smaller, around 75 pounds. Frankie is a classic German Shepherd, very smart, very affectionate, very alert. She loves to ride in the car.
